説明
We have placed bat-boxes in the Doñana Biological Reserve (EBD-CSIC) in which we have installed transponder readers connected to a data storage system. These readers are prepared to read the transponder inserted in each greater noctule (Nyctalus lasiopterus) every time a bat enters or leaves a bat-box.

プロジェクトデータ
The project SUMHAL aims at implementing a strategy for biodiversity conservation in the western Mediterranean hotspot by setting a technologically efficient and scientifically robust system. The project combines fieldwork and virtual research environments for the recording, storing, analysis, and dissemination of the conservation status and threats of biodiversity in Andalusia (Southern Spain)
タイトル | Sustainability for Mediterranean Hotspots in Andalusia integrating LifeWatch ERIC (SUMHAL). Work package 4 (WP4): Exploring ways to generate, mobilize and disseminate long-term biodiversity information: from conservation baselines to management assessments |

ファンデイング | This study was funded by MICINN through European Regional Development Fund [SUMHAL, LIFEWATCH-2019-09-CSIC-04, POPE 2014-2020]. |
Study Area Description | The vision of the subproject Bats in the WP is increase the knowleage of the biggest bats in Europe, Nyctalus lasiopterus in the three best known colonies, in the Southwest of Spain. The three locatilies where the bats has been tagged are one urban park in Seville, the zoobotanical garden in Jerez de la Frontera and the most preserve part of the Doñana National Park, Doñana Biological Reserve. The Smart bat boxes where the reading are made are located in the Doñana Biological Reserve (EBD-CSIC) |
研究の意図、目的、背景など(デザイン) | The specific aims of the work package are: Task 1. Design, generate and provide content for a repository of Nyctalus lasiopterus information in the best known population of the species in the world. Task 2. Demonstrate the utility of the intelligents bat-boxes we have and the use of RFID as a great and no to invase tool for research and conservation of the species. Task 3. Distribute and syndicate the information generated in regional, national and international platforms. |

収集方法
The RFID is injected subcutaneously with a surgical needle in every bat. The bat boxes located in Doñana are equipped with an antenna, a reader which is capable of storing the reading data and allowing us to download it.
Study Extent | We have been capturing bats, Nyctalus lasiopterus, since 2012. Every year we performance a masive netting day, it is usually in July but in 2021 and 2022 we carried out more than one samplig day at each location: Doñana Biological Reserve (EBD-CSIC), Mª Luisa Park and Zoobotanical in Jerez. Once the bats are capture we injected an RFID subcutaneously into each bat so that it could be read by the Smart bat boxes installed in Doñana Biological Reserve (EBD-CSIC) |
---|---|
Quality Control | As we have all the boxes set with an antenna and reader, we can know where each bat is anytime, the time of arrival every season of the year and the appearance of new individuals. |
Method step description:
- First of all we capture the bat and inject the RFID. Secondly, we condition the bat boxes to be smart bat boxes After that we need the bats to enter or exit the boxes and provide us with readers Finally we download the readers and now we can start working with the data.
追加のメタデータ
目的 | The dataset can be used to work with data from bats during a long-term survey, althought to do this, it will be necessary to understand the next dataset that we will upload. |

メンテナンス内容 | This dataset will be close and will not be updated, unless errors or issues are reported by users. |
