Description

VIT herbarium-Mycotheca contains ca. 17,700 sheets belonging to 1,700 taxa. It was initiated in 1972. Approximately half of this collection (Micoteca General) was assembled by a large group of collectors integrated in the association Grupo Micológico 111 (Antonio Esteban, Luis Manso, Xabier de Olano, Vivencio Martínez Irigoyen, José Luis García Alija, Isabel Salcedo, Fernando Valluerca, Conrado Albandoz, Esther Abad, Eduardo Benguría and Luis Mª Iriarte). Other collectors to highlight are Germán Bastida, Paulino Elorza and Daniel Apilánez. The other half of the collection is Luis Manso’s personal collection (Micoteca Luis Manso), donated to the Natural Sciences Museum of Alava. 51% of this collection is computerized.
