Description
La Colección de Algas depositada en el Herbario del Departamento de Biología Vegetal (Botánica) de La Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife TFC contiene más de 14.000 exsiccata. La mayor parte de la colección son pliegos de herbario, aunque también hay especímenes conservados en medio líquido y preparaciones microscópicas permanentes. En su mayoría la mayoría son representantes de la flora de algas marinas de las Islas Canarias. Dispone, además, de materiales provenientes de otros archipiélagos macaronésicos y de otras partes del mundo [costas atlánticas europeas, Mediterráneo, Atlántico occidental]. Merece una mención especial, la colección de algas de las costas de Colombia, incluida en TFC, donada por los Profesores R. y M.L. Schnetter (Universidad de Giessen-Alemania).
