English: The Herbarium at the Real Jardín Botánico contains the largest collection of dried fungi in the Iberian Peninsula. It is integrated by two collections, MA-FunHist and MA-Fungi. The first, houses the historical collection, i.e. those fungi included in the MA Herbarium until 1976. MA-Fungi collection contains nearly 85,000 specimens, of wich 194 are type specimens and 14,292 have microscope slides. Basidiomycota and Ascomycota (Kingdom Fungi), as well as Myxomycota (slime molds) are the best represented. This collection is the result primarily, of the activity developed by the staff of the Mycology research, initiated by F.D. Calonge in 1975, and specially by the research project Flora Micológica Ibérica (1991-2009), led by Mª. T. Telleria and M. Dueñas. The majority of the specimens are of Iberian origin, (85% from Spain and 3% from Portugal). The rest corresponds to specimens from other countries, mainly from Europe and America, but also from Asia and Africa, thoungh in smaller numbers, they are the result of exchanges programs and staff expeditions. Major collectors in the herbarium are: F.D. Calonge, M.T. Telleria, C. Lado, M. Dueñas, F. Pando, and M. Oltra. Private collections as the L. Cabo Rey and L.M. García Bona have recently included. The collection is fully databased using a system named “HERBAR”, a herbarium management program, developed by F. Pando et al. at Real Jardín Botánico. Main holdings: Basidiomycota, with over 27,500 specimens is the divisio of fungi best represented, being corticioid fungi the most numerous, with more than 12,000 specimens; followed by agaricales, with nearly 9,950; gasteromycetes with 9,700, and poroid fungi with some 4,700 specimens. Most of them come from the Iberian Peninsula, but also there is a good representation of this group from France, especially of corticioid fungi and also poroid fungi to a lesser extent. The Myxomycetes collection with about 20.000 specimens, covers Iberian slime molds specially well. The Neotropics, as result of the Myxotropic project led by C. Lado, are also well represented. By groups, the collection comprises Physarales with 16,030 specimens, Stemonitales with 2,840, Liceales with 2,120 and in lesser number Echinosteliales and Ceratiomyxales. The collection of Myxomycetes of the MA herbarium, together with other four European Herbaria (BR, LE, M, and WARK) has participated in a research project with the aim of creating a virtual Herbarium of Myxomycetes through GBIF, consisting of 9,000 specimens, containing almost one third of all types of the group. The Ascomycota are represented by 10,510 specimens, being the best represented orders: Pezizales, with 4.716 specimens, Erysiphales with 2,033, and Helothiales with 1,255.Español: El Herbario del Real Jardín Botánico contiene la mayor colección de hongos secos de la Península Ibérica. Está integrado por dos colecciones, MA-FunHist y MA-Fungi. La primera alberga la colección histórica, es decir, los hongos incluidos en el Herbario MA hasta 1976. La colección de MA-Fungi contiene casi 85.000 especímenes, de los cuales 194 son especímenes de tipo y 14.292 tienen diapositivas de microscopio. Basidiomycota y Ascomycota (Reino Fungi), así como Myxomycota, que son los mejor representados. Esta colección es el resultado principalmente de la actividad desarrollada por el personal de la investigación de Micología, iniciada por F.D. Calonge en 1975, y especialmente por el proyecto de investigación Flora Micológica Ibérica (1991-2009), dirigido por M.T. Telleria y M. Dueñas. La mayoría de los ejemplares son de origen ibérico (85 % de España y 3 % de Portugal). El resto corresponde a especímenes de otros países, principalmente de Europa y América, pero también de Asia y África, en menor número, son el resultado de programas de intercambio y expediciones de personal. Los principales coleccionistas del herbario son: F.D. Calonge, M.T. Telleria, C. Lado, M. Dueñas, F. Pando y M. Oltra. Colecciones privadas como las de L. Cabo Rey y L.M. García Bona han incluido recientemente. La colección está totalmente basada en bases de datos utilizando un sistema denominado "HERBAR", un programa de gestión de herbarios, desarrollado por F. La mayoría proceden de la Península Ibérica, pero también hay una buena representación de este grupo de Francia, especialmente de hongos corticícolas y también de hongos poroides en menor grado. La colección de Myxomycetes con cerca de 20.000 ejemplares. Los Neotrópicos, como resultado del proyecto Myxotropic dirigido por C. Lado, también están bien representados. Por grupos, la colección comprende Physarales con 16.030 especímenes, Stemonitales con 2.840, Liceales con 2.120 y en menor número Echinosteliales y Ceratiomyxales. La colección de Myxomycetes del herbario MA junto con otras cuatro Herbarios europeas (BR, LE, M, y WARK) ha participado en un proyecto de investigación con el objetivo de crear un Herbario virtual de Myxomycetes a través de GBIF, que consta de 9.000 especímenes, Casi un tercio de todos los tipos del grupo. Los Ascomycota están representados por 10.510 especímenes, siendo los más representados: Pezizales, con 4.716 ejemplares, Erysiphales con 2.033 y Helothiales con 1.255.

The majority of specimens, some 58,000, which houses the collection MA-Fungi come from Spain, and are the result of intense campaigns of sampling, carried out by the Flora Micologica Iberica research project (1991-2009). There is a good representation of Myxomycetes of the Neotropics as a result of Myxotropic Project. Note also the collection of corticioid fungi from France, result of assistance on the part of the scientific staff at the Rencontres Francophones d'Aphyllophorales. The rest corresponds to specimens from other countries, mainly from Europe and America, but also from Asia and Africa, thoungh in smaller numbers.

All specimens are identified to genus or species, they are ordered in accordance with the 7th edition of the Ainsworth & Bisby’s Dictionary of Fungi (1983). Over half of the collection is georeferenced. Basidiomycota, with over 27,500 specimens is the divisio of fungi best represented, being corticioid fungi the most numerous, with more than 12,000 specimens; followed by Agaricales, with nearly 9,950; gasteromycetes with 9,700, and poroid fungi with some 4,700 specimens.
