Description
[English] IMEDEA-INSECTA includes more than 7.000 records of the insect collection that are found at the Institut Mediterrani d'Estudis Avançats (CSIC-UIB) located in Esporles (Mallorca, España). The database includes, on one hand, specimens that were collected during the PhD thesis of Dr. Miquel Palmer (all these in the order Coleoptera) and, on the other hand, specimens collected during different research projects on pollinaion at the Terrestrial Ecology Laboratory, of IMEDEA. The latter represent 61% of the total number of records. In order to consult the data of either collection, we recommend to filter the field named: 'datasetName'. The biological material is preserved dry or in alcohol (ants), and most of it (85%) has been collected in the Balearic Islands. The pollinators’ collection is an active one, and new records will be incorporated as new specimens are collected in different research projects. In this collection, we want to highlight a species of bee new to science recently discovered in Mallorca: Dufourea balearica.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 7,334 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
