Description
El herbario Trèmols fue cedido al Instituto Botánico de Barcelona (IBB) por la Real Academia de Ciencias y Artes de Barcelona (RACAB) en 1925. Esta colección fue creada durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX por el químico y botánico catalán Frederic Trèmols Borrell (1831-1900), socio y cofundador de la Sociedad Botánica Barcelonesa (1872-1878). Entre 1930 y 1960, el técnico Antoni Marcos hizo una profunda revisión añadiendo etiquetas y reordenando la colección según el Conspectus florae europaeae de Carl Fredik Nyman. La colección actual está formada por 58 volúmenes reordenados por Marcos, dos volúmenes con la estructura original de Trèmols, cuatro cajas del género Hieracium y 85 cajas de material adicional. A finales del 2023 se terminó la catalogación de toda la colección llegando a 12.951 especímenes.Este herbario incluye en gran parte pliegos de intercambio obtenidos básicamente mediante la Société Helvétique pour l’échange des Plantes y la Sociedad Botánica Barcelonesa. El interés principal, pues, radica en la gran diversidad de procedencias geográficas de las plantas, que hacen de esta colección uno de los primeros herbarios europeos de Cataluña.
