Description

This dataset gathers the data of the specimens present in the Zoological Collections of the University of Granada (CCZ-UGR) and coming from Sierra Nevada. As a result of the process of adaptation and improvement of the primary data, 10,005 records have been selected out of the 32,120 catalogued, corresponding to 55,292 specimens out of the 136,837 that are currently catalogued. These figures reveal the important representation of the fauna of the Sierra Nevada, approximately one third of the CCZ-UGR.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 10,005 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

Occurrence (core)

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data

WP-1. BIOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS (digitalization of Herbarium and Zoological collections of UGR): The objective is to create a repository of high quality images of the specimens in different formats/elements (sheets, three-dimensional samples, microscopic images for microorganisms, pollen, etc.). This task would be transversal to many other actions of the project, according to the main objectives of LifeWatch ERIC program.

Sampling Methods

Direct sampling, pitfall and light traps

Study Extent The working area is the geographical area of Sierra Nevada, according to Jiménez Olivencia (1990)

Method step description:

  1. Screening of records from the Sierra Nevada geographic area.
  2. Mounting, identification and incorporation into the zoological collections of the specimens from the sampling carried out during the SmartEcomountains project.
  3. Create a database using the ELYSIA program (https://www.gbif.es/en/software/elysia/) that collects all the records from steps 1 and 2.
