Description

Flat table of terrestrial arthropod occurrences collected in 2024–2025 from five sites on Tenerife, Canary Islands, using standard COBRA sampling protocols. Each row holds the unique field code, site information, UTM coordinates, collection date, sampling method, taxon identification, number of individuals and name of the determiner.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 5,178 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

Arthropod-focused COBRA protocol in five sites in the summit of Tenerife.

Study Extent Teide National Park (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain)

Method step description:

  1. Sampling followed COBRA (Conservation Oriented Biodiversity Rapid Assessment) protocols: pitfall traps (PIT), sweep netting (SWE day/night), beating trays (BET day/night), aerial hand-netting (AAS), and pan traps (PAN). For each method, specimens were collected, preserved in ethanol, sorted to order, and identified to family, genus or species by experts. Individual counts per taxon were recorded.
