Description
The lichen collection of the herbarium BCN is one of the most important on the Iberian Peninsula both because of its size and because of the geographic area that it covers. It contains roughly 22.000 specimens, mostly from Catalonia, and from the Mediterranean region in general. More than a hundred samples are type specimens. In 2007, the BCN herbarium accepted in trust the herbarium of Dr. Josep Mª Egea, professor of Botany at the University of Murcia. This collection contains more than 11,000 samples and it is stored separately from the general collection.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 10,026 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
